I grew up in Hillpoint, Wisconsin and graduated from Weston High School. I attended UW-Whitewater where I received my Bachelor's degree in Business Education (Grades 7-12), Elementary Keyboarding (Grades K-12), and Vocational Certification.
I taught at Oregon High School and Weston High School before coming to Portage High School. In 2006 I received my Master’s degree in School Administration from Marian College in Fond du Lac.
In 1999 I was fortunate to have received the Lorraine Missling Award from the Wisconsin Business Education Association which honors business teachers in the first five years of teaching.
In 2009 I received the honor of being named the Wisconsin FBLA Outstanding FBLA Adviser...quite a humbling award as I was nominated by my students.
In 2010 I was awarded the Wisconsin Business Education Association's Outstanding Teacher Award which honors secondary business teachers for their outstanding careers and dedication to teaching Business & Information Technology.
In 2018 I was honored to receive the Herb Kohl Teacher Fellowship Award which recognizes and supports teaching excellence and innovation in the State of Wisconsin.
Also in 2018, I received the Russell J. Hosler Award from the Wisconsin Educators of Business and Information Technology (WEBIT). This award is given to someone to stimulate, encourage, and reward outstanding contributions to the advancement of business education.
The courses I teach in the Business & Information Technology Department are: Advanced Microsoft Office Academy, Business Graphics, Employability Skills, Microsoft Office Academy, Sports & Entertainment for Business, and Social Media Marketing.
I also hold the role of Portage High School's Technology Coach. I am the adviser for Portage High School's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA).
A few other activities that I have been involved in include: serving on the Portage Community School's District Technology Committee, being a member of the Wisconsin FBLA Executive Board, a member of the Wisconsin FBLA State Conference Planning Committee, a member of the Wisconsin Educator's for Business & Information Technology (WEBIT) Convention Planning Committee, and teaching technology workshops to Portage teachers.
In my free time I like spending time with family and friends, cheering for the Badgers, Packers, and Chicago Cubs, reading, and playing with my cats Wrigley and Greta.
