November is American Diabetes Month. Seventy-nine million Americans are at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Portage Community School District is proud to participate in American Diabetes Month to promote diabetes prevention and control.
People who are overweight, age 45 or older, or who have high blood pressure are more likely to develop type 2 diabetes.
The good news is that you can take steps to lower your chances of developing type 2 diabetes by watching your weight, eating healthy and staying active.
This week, aim to get at least 150 minutes of physical activity, or 30 minutes a day, five days a week. Even walking inside your house counts!
