Nicotine addiction can occur more quickly in children, even prior to regular daily use of vapes/e-cigs. Working in collaboration with your child's health care provider, a thorough health assessment and nicotine use conversation can establish the baseline for a plan of care that may include quit planning, lung disease treatment, nicotine replacement therapy, and ongoing supportive services.
The school district offers students Success Kits to support cessation through a generous grant from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Success Kits include small items to help with withdrawal symptoms, stress reduction, and transportation to treatment appointments. The goal is to support students take control of the health and build their capacity to have a successful sustained quit. Contact any of the following individuals to access a Kit: guidance counselor, school social worker or district nurse.
