Are you interested in positively impacting the education and future of our community?
The Portage Community School District Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Board created by the resignation of Sarah Johnson. The vacancy will require an appointment by the Board for the position, until an elected candidate is seated in April 2026 for a one-year term. The candidate must be legally qualified and must reside in the city area of the Portage Community School District (within the city limits of Portage).
Potential candidates must send a letter of interest and will give a verbal statement to the Board at an open meeting on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. as to their personal qualifications and motivation for Board membership. The Board may question the candidate relative to their candidacy. A vote will then be taken.
A letter of interest for the vacancy must be submitted to the Portage Community School District no later than 12 p.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025. The letter should include a description of the applicant’s qualifications, their Portage Community School District residency in the city and phone number, and why they are interested in serving on the Board. Letters of interest can be mailed, emailed, or delivered to Joshua Sween, District Administrator, 305 E. Slifer St., Portage, WI 53901 or sweenj@portage.k12.wi.us.
A declaration of eligibility will also be provided to interested individuals for completion prior to the meeting on July 14, 2025.
