I graduated from Buena Vista University, Storm Lake, Iowa in 1996 with a BA in Elementary Education, a Reading and Early Childhood Endorsement and a concentration in Art. In 2005, I took Montessori classes at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN.
I began my first year as a substitute teacher in the Des Moines, Iowa area. My first contracted position was in Delano, California teaching a 4th/5th grade combination class. After 3 years in California, I moved to Minnesota and was a Kindergarten teacher in an African Centered Charter School in St. Paul for 5 years from there I moved to a Montessori based charter school. For the past 9 years, I have taught at Hmong charter schools in various positions. My latest position was the K-8 Literacy Coordinator and Reading Coach. My passion is literacy and feel it is the foundation of our lives.
When I'm not at school, I am spending time with my husband and our daughter. I also enjoy reading and doing all sorts of crafts. I am really looking forward to joining the Rusch Family and getting to know the students and their families.
