Leiah Schroeder, Teacher

Hi, my name is Mrs. Schroeder,

I grew up in northern Minnesota.  I attended college in North Dakota and graduated with a teaching degree.  I went back to Minnesota for a year and taught first and second grade. In 1986 I married, Scott and we moved to Baraboo. I got a job paraprofessional while working on getting my Wisconsin teacher license.   A year later we moved to Portage with a new baby boy, Kodi and I started my teaching career in Portage Community Schools as a substitute teacher.  I continued in that role for nine years during which time I had another baby boy, Kasi. 

When Kasi was in second grade I got a job as a first-grade, SAGE teacher at Woodridge.  After that year I moved to third-grade where I continued for the next 14 years.  For the last five years  I have been in the role of Reading Interventionist.

Kodi and Kasi graduated from Portage Community Schools and went on to become Chiropractors. They each have their own offices, Kodi is in Fitchburg and Kasi is in Sun Prairie.
