Hi, my name is Leiah Schroeder, I am a Reading Interventionist at John Muir.
I am married to Scott, we have two boys Kodi and Kasi. My family and I have lived in the Portage area since 1989.
My oldest son, Kodi is married to Mackenzie. He is a Chiropractor. His office is in Fitchburg. My youngest son, Kasi will graduate as a Chiropractor in October, and will open an office in Sun Prairie in the spring of 2019.
As a family, we enjoy traveling, spending time at our cabin, fishing, hunting and watching movies.
Before coming to Portage, I taught one year of first and second graders at a private school in Minnesota. My family and I moved to Portage in 1982. I was a substitute teacher here in Portage for 9 years. The first year I was a full-time teacher, I taught first-grade, then moved to third-grade my second year. After being in the classroom for 15 years, I was offered the opportunity to be a Reading Interventionist. Since then, I have enjoyed supporting first through fifth grade students with their reading.
I received my teaching degree from Trinity Bible College in 1985.
I received my Master's Degree from Viterbo College in 2007.
Teaching is my dream job and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to get up each morning and go to a job I look forward to and love.
